National Citizen
The healthcare professional, specifically the physician, through the “National Citizen” option, is able to create or update the patient’s Health Summary. This section allows for the recording of critical medical information, such as:
- Pre-existing medical conditions
- Allergies
- Previous surgical procedures
- Current medication
These data are of particular importance, as they enable healthcare professionals in the host country—where the patient may be located—to access reliable and up-to-date information promptly. Consequently, in the event of an emergency, appropriate and safe medical care can be provided.
Furthermore, the physician has the capability to issue an Electronic Prescription, which the patient may redeem in another European country, thereby ensuring continuity of treatment without interruption.
